Worst Blogger! and Visit From the Tooth Fairy....

I happen to be the worst blogger...even after several comments from my mom and dad about not posting anything, I still continued to not post anything. I guess I was taking a sabbatical! :) Or maybe it was because it was winter, and nothing happens around here in the winter. BUT, this is the first full week of Spring, and I suddenly feel like writing.

First, Kyle and I have both turned 33 since my last post. I had my bday last week. I hadn't even really thought about it until my mom asked what I wanted, and I started getting birthday cards.

Also on my 33rd birthday was the 3rd anniversary that the Fulcher's became Iowa residents...honestly, the last 2 years have flown by! I am so very grateful to all of my Iowa friends. It is very hard to believe that Laurel has now lived in Iowa for as long as she ever did in Mississippi..she will not even have a southern accent. :(

And...Laurel lost her first tooth! She came bursting in our bedroom at 2:30am the Friday morning we were leaving for Mexico. She had already waken Landon and was shouting, "Mom, Dad...I lost my tooth." I tried to act excited and then suggest we all go back to sleep because we had a 6am flight, and had to be up early, but no one went back to sleep. Imagine how tired we were that night. So, we had to write a note to the Tooth Fairy and tell her where we would be that night, and left her a map....Luckily she found us. Once again, pop and nonna came through with the tooth fairy money. Although, it is pop's fault. One good thing is that Laurel just says that the Tooth Fairy brought her "some dollars"...unlike Landon who still likes to disclose the full amount to anyone who will listen!

Landon has already started soccer practice and the season starts very soon so I should have some pictures soon of that.

Just another winter

I just need a few minutes to complain. Since my last post, there were two days when the temp barely reached a high of -15 after starting out at -29 or -21. When you get that low, does it really matter if it is -29 or -21? Not really. It is just cold!

We have had a lot of snow again this year which is funny because every winter they keep saying that this is not the "norm"...but this is the 3rd winter, and it pretty much seems to be the "norm". Average snowfall to date is usually 19 inches; although, we have already seen 31 inches and last year was worse! I have to admit the summers are nice, but give me a break on the winters!

Anyway, it did warm up enough this past weekend that we took the kids sledding. The park across the street is perfect for sledding!

Winston (October 1997-January 9, 2009)

We were very sad to hear that my mom's dog died on Friday. Winston was a Christmas gift for my mom in 1997. I think he was supposed to help with the transitions that were happening in 1998 (I was getting married the summer of 1998, and more importantly, my brothers were graduating from high school in May of 1998...and would be moving out of the house.) With Winston around, the house wouldn't be as empty.
Winston was a fiesty little dog, and very strong. He had been known to leave bruises when he would jump up on you. So it was a little sad to see him at Christmas. He was very weak, and had lost a good bit of weight.

Since he had been around before Landon and Laurel were born, they had grown up having Winston around. Landon actually cried when he was talking to mom about it on the phone. He said it just won't be the same at Nonna and Pop's.
We will miss him!

Christmas 2008

A couple of pics from Christmas this year. I can't believe I didn't have one picture of Caitlyn, Chris' daughter. She was really sick and taking breathing treatments so she wasn't able to join us until Sunday. She is precious. I hate that y'all won't get to see her!

This past weekend

This past weekend, MeMe and Big Pop came to visit. And as expected, Laurel received another birthday gift (I told y'all that it would drag on forever!) Anyway, we had a really good visit with them. They came in on Friday afternoon. Saturday morning we all went to watch Landon's basketball game. He was super excited that they could see him, and he did really well. He even scored a few baskets. Just like his mom back in the day :). Laugh. Ok, so maybe he gets it from his dad.
They even got to go see Santa with us! Luckily they got out of here on Monday morning before the freezing rain hit!

On a sad note, my mom called yesterday to tell me the Ms. Jerlean's mom died this weekend. Ms. J, as she is affectionately called, was like a second mom to me and my brothers growing up...and still continues to be. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. I am so sad that I couldn't be down there for the visitation.
