The things I say...

The other night, Kyle and I were watching some Christmas thing on TV. I think it was the lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center. Anyway, Laurel was sitting with us on the sofa, anxiously awaiting Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers. At some point, Harry Connick, Jr. began to sing. About half way through his song, Laurel said, "He is freaking me out!" (I had been thinking the same thing. He did look a little weird.) I kind of laughed and asked Kyle if he heard her, but didn't say anything else. A minute or two later she said, "Mom, you see how he is freaking me out?" At that point I am very curious. So I ask, "Where did you hear that?" And she just pointed...to me. Ok, so it does sound like something that would have come out of my mouth (like I said I had been thinking the same thing), but come on...maybe she heard me say it once or twice. The fact that she heard it, and was able to remember where she heard it from, and repeat it was simply amazing given the fact that I have to ask, beg, and eventually scream until I am blue in the face about picking up gloves, coats, shoes, dolls, legos, footballs...and no one seems to hear me, but say something like "he is freaking me out" and it gets repeated over and over again. Why is that?

Thanksgiving Feast and another Cake!

Laurel had a Thanksgiving Feast in class the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. All the kindergarteners were supposed to dress up like Indians or Pilgrims in the costumes that they had made the previous week at school. All, except one little boy, dressed like Indians. "Indian" names were given to each kindergartener...and Laurel's name was a perfect fit! "Little One with Lots to Say!"

This week, we also celebrated her 6th birthday once more! This time, it was just the four of us.
They are too sweet!
Blowing out the candle...

The #6 Birthday doll from Grandmother was a big hit! ...And obviously so was the microphone from Aunt Nita.

Snow Family and Forts!

We woke up on Sunday morning to find that the first snow had fallen. Chris was still here and Kyle wanted to show off his new toy...and pulled out the snow thrower. After Chris left, we scrambled around the house trying to find all of the things that the kids needed in order to enjoy the first snow: thermals, waterproof gloves, hats, snow pants, and snow boots. Luckily, their boots still fit from last year!

Before long they were out in the yard hard at work! The neighbors were out as well, and before long, we had a whole family of snow people and 2 forts!

Here are a few pics.

Chicago Fun

This past weekend, we met Nonna and Pop in Chicago. And I think we made them VERY HAPPY! When my brothers and I were little, my parents would say that it made them happy to buy things for us. So it became a running joke with us...if we went on a big shopping trip, they would say that we "made them very happy!"

I think we made them very happy, Laurel especially! That girl can shop. She wants everything!

We had tons of fun, we ate tons of food, and we shopped 'til we dropped. And everywhere we went, Laurel told them that it was her birthday. So we had a couple of parties!

She loved the American Girl Doll store. She made my mom particularly very happy there. We had a Tea Party there Saturday afternoon. It was nice, but the food is not very kid friendly. They had cucumber sandwiches, pimento and cheese sandwiches, tuna sandwiches, scones, and some type of nut bread. What I ate was very good, but Laurel...nor Landon would touch it. But, it was a very fun experience. They brought out a tea cup for the doll, who was sitting in her own high chair.
Landon and my dad did much shopping as well. I think they visited the sports store quite a few times.

I think it is worth mentioning that my dad had a skin caner removed from his face...so don't be alarmed when you see the pictures. We are hoping that he has a speedy recovery!

At the tea party with Hannah (Montana), the doll.

I think Pop enjoyed the tea party too!

The shopping girls!

At the Ritz for brunch... Even the Ritz celebrated with us!

Our little Turkey turns 6!

On November 26th, 2002, I was 36 wks pregnant, and I asked my Doctor what she thought about me travelling for Thanksgiving. Her response was, "I think we should go next door to the hospital to have your baby." When I said that I didn't have my bags, and that I needed to make arrangements for my 17 month old son, she said, "OK, be back at 1pm. We will have a baby at 4 O'Clock." That was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving that year...so we were not going to be doing much travelling for Thanksgiving. Instead, on Thanksgiving Day, Kyle and I (and Laurel) ate hospital food, turkey included, for Thanksgiving. And later that day, we got to take our beautiful 4 pound, 10 oz little turkey home.

This past Saturday, we celebrated her birthday with her little friends. As usual, her birthday turns into a two week celebration. Because of the holiday, we are usually celebrating really early or late with her friends. Then we usually have a family event, and then we can't NOT do anything on the actual day...so we have a couple of parties..I can assure you, she doesn't mind. :)
I have to say that the other Fulcher group (the Long Beach clan) was missed at the party. Laurel kept asking if Norah was coming for her party. :(

She invited her classmates, and brother, to an indoor place with inflatable slides and obstacle courses. I think they had a blast!

I will post pictures of all the other parties as well. Next on the party circuit, this weekend we head to Chicago to see Nonna and Pop (my parents) where she will have a Tea Party at the American Girl Store. Aunt Nita has already called to warn us of gifts in the mail...so I am sure she will want to open as soon as they hit the doorstep. Then, the actual day. Big Pop and MeMe (Kyle's parents) will be coming up the first weekend in December, and I am sure they will be bearing gifts as well. So, this year, we are making it a 3 week celebration!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!
